Plain and Fancy Grooming -
Frequently Asked Questions

What is your grooming process?
Most pets receive a rough haircut, then a massaging bath, then drying, then the finishing haircut.  Breaks are given after drop-off and in between each step so your pet does not feel overwhelmed.

I don't want my dog to be put in a cage.  What are my options?
Most pets are more comfortable in a cage, with a place of their own.  If you request that your dog is not caged during his visit, we have designated areas for some dogs to be tethered, which is similar to a tie-out.  We also offer an expidite service.  For more information on our expidite serice, see our Menu.

My dog came home and slept for two days.  Did you sedate him?
We NEVER sedate pets that are under our care.  It is completely normal for your pet to sleep after a visit to the spa.  Most pets have a low activity level, so when they come to see us, they get two car rides, and about 4 hours of visual, mental and physical stimulation that they normally don't get at home while "mom and dad" are at work.

Should I feed my pet before his grooming appointment?
It is not reccommended to feed before a grooming appointment, because it elevates the possibility of excitement-induced vomiting.  If you feel that your pet needs to eat before his visit, we request that it is limited to a small meal.  Feel free to bring treats for your dog to munch on while he is here.

Should I get my dog groomed less often in the winter?
Absolutely not.  Your dog should be groomed with the same frequency, if not more.  In the fall and winter dog coats tend to mat up easier, skin tends to dry out causing scratching which in turn causes mats to form.  Your dog should at least get a Bath Service to remove mats and condition the skin and coat.

Why is my dog's haircut more expensive than mine?
